This application has been designed to help prospective adoptive families address these serious issues, evaluate their suitability as greyhound owners, and to aid our staff in making decisions for considered placements.  The ownership of a greyhound, like any pet, is a serious responsibility that requires a long term commitment of caring and dedication.

Are you willing and able to modify your daily schedule to accommodate a greyhound's needs, such as going outdoors into a fenced area or walking on a leash to perform bodily functions at least four times a day?

Are you aware of the vital importance of keeping your greyhound on a leash or in a fenced area when outdoors?

Greyhounds must live in the house. They cannot adequately be kept in an outdoor kennel or doghouse.  Do you agree to keep your pet inside your home?

Is there a local ordinance in your area pertaining to owning/housing an animal (i.e. leash laws, required vaccinations, dog licenses, etc)?

Are you willing to keep a collar with a tag bearing your name, address, phone number, etc. on your greyhound at all times?

If for any reason, you are unable to keep your greyhound, will you agree to return it to the adoption center?

Are you willing and able to accept full and immediate responsibility for the ownership of a greyhound, including all health care costs and necessary burdens and responsibilities of owning a greyhound?

Occasionally a greyhound with special needs (physical or an unusual personality or preferences) is available for adoption.  Would you be interested in being considered for such a special greyhound?

I understand that in order to complete processing of this application, a visit to my home may need to be scheduled by a representative of the program, and that by submitting this application, I agree to such a scheduled visit.  I also certify that all this information on this greyhound adoption application is true and correct.

Shoreline Star asks for a $250 donation for each adoption.  Please bring a leash the day you come to pick up your greyhound.

Your greyhound will have all current vaccines.  You will be provided a vaccination certificate.  Please submit the certificate to your veterinarian when you bring your greyhound to the veterinarian.

If your veterinarian has any questions about the certificate or any questions about greyhounds, please provide him with the Shoreline Star Adoption Program phone number, (203) 576-1976 so we can provide the correct answers.

The greyhounds usually range in the two to five year old age bracket.

NEVER LET YOUR DOG RUN WITHOUT A LEASH UNLESS YOU ARE IN A FENCED AREA.
